Tie one on 2 by Mr-Culexus Tie one on 2 by Mr-Culexus
Despite doing so fairly heavily in his youth, Levy is actually not that good at drinking. Now knowing his limits, and having a considerable budget for such things, he opts for smooth, sweet, spicy alcohol that can be sipped contemplatively over an evening's paperwork.

He reserves his best stuff for when he needs one of his old problems fixed.

I'd noticed that Zune's collar seemed really big in the last few images, but then I remembered that Creed can barely SEE over his collars so I presume that high collars are just Cadian style.

As said elsewhere I adore the idea of the image.  Zune being suspicious of Levy, Levy trying to butter up Zune, Zune being such a strait forward person and so experienced with people trying to talk around her (probably cause of how attractive she is) that she'd have the audacity to cut off ANYONE trying to do it.  Even an INQUISITOR.  (I imagine she may realize how bold that was in retrospect but wouldn't even question it at the time)  Everything about the situation is AMAZING.

As far as the art goes I wanted to say that your ability to be consistent is always striking, here like in the last image Zune's face is completely on model. (you're a great artist cause you haven't posted an off model image in years that I can tell)  Moreover your hands here are among your best.  Not only are the fingers all curved and articulated in the right places, but they are clearly HOLDING their respective glasses, cradling them and supporting their weight.  Hands are super tough and you nailed them here.

The lines on their clothes are great.  Both Levy's waistcoat (which from the look of it has a garter in the back) AND Zune's uniform under the armor, it even has slight tucks and bulges where it is UNDER armor rather than just going directly into it.  Frankly, professional comic artists suck at that kind of stuff and you almost ALWAYS nail it.  ESPECIALLY in sketches.
Also I've noticed this before but I wanted to point out that I always adore how even on Zune, the bustiest ragged edge of them all, you never give her 'boob armor' but ALSO never make her look like she's sizes smaller under the armor.  You just give her armor with a slightly more pronounced chest cavity with no bullet trap indent in the middle that probably goes for ALL female Kassakins and have the whole plate jut out a bit cause she probably has the straps on the last loop.  (and is probably still a bit snug in there)

Also I want to complement the ears and hair, but my biggest critique would be Zune's left eye seems to be slightly jumping off her face.

It is very generous of you to offer an explanation as to the rather excessive size of the collars I draw. Sure enough, your explanation checks out, I just don't actually have that much precedence of mind. I just drew her with a big collar. In a very real way, though art is determined by its audience. So that works.

Zune is  probably aware on some small level that she'd have to do something actually morally reprehensible to earn Levy's ire. He's an inquisitor and they don't give that position out in a box of cheerios, but he's also (comparatively) free of pretence. He IS still pretending he's asking for a favour, when honestly his underlings have no say in the matter, but he still wants to go through the dance steps. if you see what I mean.

For reasons that utterly escape me, possibly because it's a subtle variation on a face I've been drawing since highs school or whatever, but Zunes face is really easy to draw. Now, looking at my art style you could really REALLY think everyone is easy to draw but for all the drawings I've done of raege there are like two (three?) that I'm still happy with and though they are recognisable they're also not particularly consistent. I can't even get cultist on model every time and SHES part of the same face brigade. I don't know what makes Zune so special, but it kinda works. It's like she some sort of likeable ace even in the meta.

Levy's waistcoat does indeed have a garter, he's that sorta guy. Needs to look just right.

I think I HAVE given Lockwood boob armour but it's in the really old stuff that's not canon anymore, so I generally don't count it. I try to make it pointed and hard edged, not sculpted to match someones body exactly. Even ratcheted out to the last loop it is still a bit snug, yes. I try to make that clear between Lockwood with armour and without. It's not a massive deal, but I know he struggle is real. Thought it would be nice touch.

I had not noticed the eye, but I totally see what you mean.

Glad to be of service in the collar area.  Just that at least in these last few images her collar is SO much bigger than the other character's that it really works as a regional stylistic attribute.

Yeah I figured Zune's been interacting with him long enough to not really feel the weight of his position every time they talk so much as just that he's her superior.

I really appreciate your attention to detail and to accommodating things NOT seen as considerations for what we see, like the design of levy's waistcoat and the pressure Zune's armor is under.

Just wanted to point it out since you like criticism to help you improve.

You'd be right. As would young levy. Some of the rogue trader crew, such as ohmi, would qualify from time to time.

I guess Levy wouldn't have any problem with any of the Edges referring to him by name, but I believe the ones that do can be counted on the fingers of one hand, right?

I imagine he wouldn't even blink at Conrad doing it, but at the same time professionalism isn't just her way, it's more or less her ONLY socialization.  I imagine that ranks and rarely surnames are all she ever uses with maybe one or two exceptions IF ANY....Has she ever even SAID Alice?

Her calling Levy by name is probably rare just out of professionalism.  I'd imagine if he ever heard her say his FIRST name he'd take it as a signal that something terrible has happened and she's speaking in CODE.

Honestly that idea reminds me of (if you enjoy Star Wars) Captain Rex calling Anakin Skywalker 'Anakin' rather than 'General' as a signal that something was wrong even while under a mind trick.

You're spot on in all aspects as usual.

I want to say, it's really very helpful to me. Back when I would do maths I would just write down the answer. On some level I knew the equation had taken place in my head, but I didn't notice it. Could never show my working.

In the case of characters, I can't always explain why they talk the way they do. I just go 'how would Lockwood say this" and then write it. You keep helping me actually understand why and that is super handy.

I'm curious to this bet, also if I read the situation correctly, getting close to the Major is not an ulterior motive, its an overt one.
I can Respect Levee's taste on every level here.

I think, based on Levy's age here, he has actually settled down with a constant girlfriend and doesn't really think f Lockwood like that.
Regarding the bet: Levy lost a large sapphire in a game of regicide, thinking it was just a gem. He has since found out that it is the final key to unlocking an ancient horde of archeotech, so he needs to get it back from the grandson of the noble he lost it to without alerting them to the gems true value.

Oh it doesn't have to be close in a romantic way. I'm sure someone like the major would not only be a good friend but potentially a useful ally. For a younger man also that.
As for the bet. Good Emperor man, Archeotech is sometimes worth the wealth of an entire planet. Perhaps he can say that it was of great sentimental value to him? A ring from his grandmother's jewelry where the stone got misplaced or something of that nature? In general people do get a bit of a buzz from A) helping others and B) holding others in their power. If he comes to them and satisfies both by giving them a lowball offer for the gem then "letting them" work up to a higher value on the gem's price" to "manipulate the sentimental old man" that might work

The sapphire in question is about the size of a soccer ball. The nobel who inherited from the person Levy first lost it to is putting it at for the prize in a tournament that his family is hosting so that he can promote his own line of snack food. He's an imbecile.

I'm sketchy on the details, but there is a good chance this is the mission that either no one wants to talk about or that seems unbelievable but everyone knows actually happened.

Putting it up for a prize in a tournament you say?
And Levy is currently with the Ragged Edges crew you say?
I sense hijinks and general shenanigans in the works.
And now I'm wondering if his line of snack food is any good.

I just recently purchased a bunch of "snack foods" but its mainly dehydrated fruits, oats and veggies

Likely. Real likely.

Well, semi lengthy.

Basically, while my work is by no means any sort of crusade there were two under addressed character traits that I found were often maligned. That of being short (not like a dwarf or like a different species like Link but just being on the short side) and that of having large breasts.

Short characters are often villains or comedy reliefs or both at best they are cuter characters. Large breasted characters are often (far from always, I realise) either stupid (or at least of the ara ara air headed motherly type) or evil.

Now, I AM NOT on a crusade here. Especially since I am big time part of the problem sometimes. I don't really got an agenda. But since I'm making so many characters anyways, just occasionally I thought it'd be nice to have a character whose a little sawn off, or has crazy big boobs without either being a defining trait of their character. if they had other things going on. Awesome in their own right. Just also happened to be a shortstack.

Das cool, dude. Zune isn't super short, and mostly hangs around Raege, who is a giant, and Boone, who's even shorter, so I didn't really notice until now.

Also I noticed you've been playing with Zune's drunkenness a fair bit lately. Since you've mentioned being annoyed at her being a generically all-around competent leader, is that on purpose?
